Grid fees for PV feed-in could come

The Electricity Industry Act (ElWG) announced by the government could result in additional grid fees for owners of photovoltaic systems. The newspaper "Der Standard" reported this online on Tuesday. According to the report, the draft law provides for future grid usage fees for the feed-in of electricity. The Green Party, whose votes will likely be needed for a two-thirds majority, criticized the announcement.
According to "Der Standard," such network charges will be set in the future by the regulatory authority E-Control. The authority must first work out the exact details. The Electricity Act is currently still being negotiated within the government; the law was announced in the government program before the summer. A two-thirds majority in parliament is required for the law to pass. This would be possible with the votes of the governing parties plus those of the Greens or the Freedom Party.
Greens criticize announcement
On Monday, the Green Party criticized the potential grid charges for PV owners: "The Electricity Industry Act (ElWG) is intended to accelerate the energy transition, not slow it down. For us Greens, it is clear: Those who generate clean energy and thus contribute to climate protection should not be penalized for doing so," wrote party leader Leonore Gewessler on the "X" platform.
When asked by APA whether the Greens would agree to an ElWG including grid fees for PV feed-in, the response was: Currently, there is still no concrete draft available for evaluation, "instead, rumors are circulating about new burdens for those who produce green electricity – this is certainly the opposite of a responsible energy policy."
