Wienerberger takes over French PV company GSEi

The building materials group Wienerberger is expanding its commitment to renewable energy generation and is acquiring the French provider of in-roof photovoltaic solutions, GSE Intégration SAS (GSEi), in full. The company already held more than half of the French company and is acquiring the remaining 49 percent, Wienerberger announced on Thursday. The purchase price was not disclosed.
"With GSEi, we are taking a leading role in the field of in-roof solutions, thereby strengthening our position not only in the French and British markets, but also in the entire European PV market," said Wienerberger CEO Heimo Scheuch, according to a press release. He sees great growth potential in the sector. Although rooftop solutions currently dominate, demand for in-roof photovoltaics is increasing, especially in new buildings and renovations.
