The IUCN will update its list of threatened species at its Abu Dhabi congress in October.

Geneva, Sep 2 (EFE) - The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), known for its global registry of thousands of threatened species, announced it will update this list at its congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to be held from October 9 to 15.
The congress will bring together representatives from governments, civil society, indigenous peoples' organizations, academia, and the business sector to "promote and define the conservation and sustainable development agenda for the coming decades," the organization emphasized in a statement released Tuesday.
The conference will also update the European Red List of endangered species, with a special emphasis on pollinators, and review the status of natural sites on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage List.
Up to 40 motions for resolutions are also expected to be debated, with the aim of "promoting action against biodiversity loss and other global challenges."
The IUCN recently warned that all eight recognized pangolin species are at high risk of extinction due to overexploitation and habitat loss, and last year it reduced the threat level of the Iberian lynx from "endangered" to "vulnerable." EFE
