A word from the meteorologist. A contrasting July in the Saverne region

After a very hot and dry first fortnight, July 2025 has turned into a rather cool and humid month in the Saverne region. Overall, the average is 20.9° (the average since 1961 is 19.7°, and the records are 15.8° in July 1966 and 25° in July 2006). The absolute maximum of 38.2° is the second highest maximum (not only in July, but also in summer) after an absolute record of 39.6° in July 2019, but not more than 28° in July 1970 (on average, it is 32.8°). The absolute minimum of 10.8° is also clearly too high (average 9.3° records 3° in 1980, but not less than 16.4° in 2006).
There were 18 summer days (days when the temperature is higher than or equal to 25°), on average there are 16 and the records are 30 in 2006 and only four in July 1966. The thermometer equaled or crossed the threshold of 30° (heatwave day) on five occasions (average of five, records at 19 in 2018, and none in 1963, 1968, 1970, 1974, 1981 and 2021); We had four tropical nights (nights during which the temperature does not fall below 20°) as in 1994. This is the third highest total. This phenomenon, very rare before 1990, became commonplace afterwards, with a record of 13 in July 2006.
Rain fell 16 times (average 13; records none in 1964 and 22 in 1965); total rainfall was 91 mm, the average since 1993 is 67 mm, with records of 157 mm in 2009 and 5.4 mm in 2022 (in 1964, not a single drop fell!). Since the beginning of the year, 442 mm has fallen compared to a normal average at this time (since 1993) of 476 mm, so the deficit is decreasing. There were six thunderstorms (average five, records 10 in 1995 and none in 1964).
The maximum amount of precipitation in 24 hours was 20.4 mm on the 28th, the maximum wind gust reached 51.5 km/h on the 20th and the atmospheric pressure varied between 1026 hPa on the 4th and 1003 hPa on the 20th.
