Ain. Oyonnax: The Region plans to put more trains to Bourg-en-Bresse

Following an initial phase last March, major work is scheduled to be carried out in 2026 on the railway line between Oyonnax and Brion, which connects Bourg-en-Bresse. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (Aura) has announced that more trains will eventually run.

Line 878 000 of the national rail network, a single-track, non-electrified line, historically connected Andelot-en-Montagne to La Cluse. Its section between Oyonnax and Saint-Claude was closed in December 2017. Last March, SNCF Réseau carried out track renewal work over 600 meters between Montréal-la Cluse and Martignat. In 2026, it plans to replace 3,500 sleepers and repair engineering and earthworks.

More than €5 million invested

"Work carried out to ensure continued operation at the same level of performance until 2030," SNCF announced in a press release. For a total estimated cost of €5.01 million. Approximately €1.5 million for the first phase, in 2025, and €3.5 million for the second, in 2026.
