Basse-Zorn. No engine, they run on system D: first Alsatian recyclette race on June 29

Attention all fans of soft transport, recycling enthusiasts and DIY enthusiasts: after the cancellation of the event due to the 2024 elections, the Basse-Zorn community of communes is organizing a first "recyclettes" race on Sunday, June 29 as part of the Basse-Zorn festival at An Vert.
We're all familiar with soapbox races, vehicles without engines or pedals that move solely by the force of gravity. Recycling races , a little less so. This is normal, as the concept, which exists elsewhere in France, is quite rare. And in Alsace, it's a first.
The idea? Build your own vehicle, propelled or pulled solely by human power, using recycled materials (old bicycles, wooden pallets, or other recyclable objects). Creativity and recycling are the key words of this project.

On June 29, as part of the Basse-Zorn festival at An Vert , competitors will take their seats in their cars for the 2 p.m. kick-off. They will have to complete one or two laps of a 360-meter circuit with four turns, set up at the back of Espace W.
A "one-of-a-kind event that combines a passion for unusual vehicles, environmental commitment, creativity, and an extraordinary atmosphere," emphasizes the community, which specifies that the race is open to all, regardless of experience level. "You can participate with family, friends, colleagues, or members of an association, whether you live in Basse-Zorn or not." Several prizes will be awarded for speed, aesthetics, and the combination of the two.
Registration until May 25Candidates have until Sunday, May 25th to register (*). Since not everyone is an expert in DIY, tips and tricks can be found on the website of the French Federation of Pedal Car Clubs. A participatory workshop can be organized upon request.
