Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Towns and villages in bloom: "We talk about the four flowers, but also about the quality of life."

Some time ago, in a town in the Franche-Comté region that had just pruned and cut down trees, an individual crossed out two flowers on the town's entrance sign. Julien Faivre, national director of the Villes et Villages Fleuris (Villages in Bloom) label, was angry about the sign's defacement, but appreciated the fact that the label was being recognized and, to some extent, discussed. It's a precious label for many elected officials and residents who have been using it since 1959.
