Charnay-lès-Mâcon. Storm alert: anti-hail generators activated for the first time this season

This Saturday, Saône-et-Loire is on yellow alert for thunderstorms.

For the first time this season, the hail protection generator network has been activated.

Example this morning at 11 a.m., in Charnay-lès-Mâcon, where Luc Chevalier activated the device installed voluntarily on the family estate.

These vortex generators, which crisscross the vineyards from Beaujolais to Chablis, diffuse silver iodide particles into the air to reduce the size of hailstones.

"It's important to protect our work tools," says Luc Chevalier. But this also applies to everything else: cars, garden furniture, etc.

The device is expected to operate until 8 p.m. this Saturday evening.
