Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur. The season has begun in the family gardens where plots are still available.

This Wednesday, April 23, we visited the allotment gardens of Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur, on the Saussaie plain, behind the Polygone. Most of the plots have begun to be "worked," and the rototiller provided free of charge (excluding fuel) by the Gardeners' Association has already been used to prepare the land for planting and sowing.
There were few people around that morning except for Hervé, a Chevignois resident sitting on his chair, mixing his plowed earth. "I've been renting a plot for two years now; I have a small vegetable garden at home. This one's bigger, it's perfect. I grind clods of earth by hand, looking for mole crickets; they're an insect that loves tomato plants."
The white paths cross the 200 plots, and we note that some are still available, an opportunity to chat with the president of the Gardeners' Association, Marion Rebourg.
"This year, we have a dozen new members replacing elderly people who are physically unable to garden anymore. We still have about ten plots available, with one new feature: we can create half-plots for beginners who want to discover gardening. Each plot is equipped with a toolbox, and watering is free thanks to hand pumps. There is one pump for every six plots. You only need to join the association for €10; the plots are rented for €31 to €59, with a special rate for Chevignois residents. The land is then prepared by us before the tenant takes possession."
