The League for the Protection of Birds (LPO) has been warning for many years that swallows are disappearing rapidly in France. This observation applies to the two main species: the barn swallow, which nests mainly in barns in the countryside, and the house martin, which builds its nests in cities under roof overhangs or in the corner of a window, always outside buildings. According to the LPO, in ten years, the former has lost 41% of its numbers and the latter 33%.
