Global warming: 83% of French people and 81% of the world's population support an exceptional tax on fossil fuel companies

Emergency for Humanity: your donation can change everything.

Here's why

A poll commissioned by Greenpeace and Oxfam, published Thursday, June 19, shows overwhelming support for climate taxation targeted at oil and gas companies to cover the cost of repairing the damage caused by climate change, for which they are primarily responsible.

According to Oxfam, a tax on the profits of wealthy polluters applied to 590 oil, gas, and coal companies could generate up to $400 billion in the first year.

This is what is called a plebiscite. At the initiative of Greenpeace and Oxfam International, a survey conducted in 13 countries, including France, shows a major expectation in terms of climate justice. 81% of respondents support the principle of a tax targeting fossil fuel producers to finance damage linked to climate disasters, such as droughts, fires , or floods .
