How the nuclear industry wants to put energy-intensive AI into its engine

An unquenchable thirst for energy has gripped the giants of artificial intelligence. Google, Meta, Amazon, and OpenAI, among others, must feed the beast they have created: generative AIs like ChatGPT are constantly growing , and the hundreds of data centers that have mushroomed to power them are devouring phenomenal amounts of electricity every day. Gigawatts are needed to run the thousands of GPU chips that constitute their brains, and just as many to cool them. Always available and 100% carbon-free, nuclear power appears to be the ideal candidate to provide the AI revolution with the electricity it needs. At least, that's the pitch that nuclear energy salespeople are handing out to tech bosses. How can we take advantage of Silicon Valley's new boom to accelerate the nuclear revival? This question will be on everyone's lips this week at Paris Nord Villepinte, where the conference is being held.
