Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Beavers, dragonflies, orchids... The 1001 wonders of the abundant Heyssel site

On Saturday, May 10, the Eschau Nature association organized a nature outing in Illkirch, at the Heyssel site managed by the Alsace Natural Areas Conservatory (CEN). Guided by the site's curator, Michel Wagner, some twenty nature lovers discovered this Eden with its exceptional flora and fauna.
Created in 1998 as a compensatory measure for the southern ring road, the site, which covers twelve hectares, is a former maize growing area renatured into meadow. The Heyssel Rhine meadow , located on the edge of the Neuhof-Illkirch forest nature reserve , is today covered with exceptional flora.
