In pictures, Typhoon Wipha: numerous trees uprooted and several scaffolds collapsed in Hong Kong

Hong Kong was placed on high alert for "hurricane-force winds" as Typhoon Wipha approached the southern Chinese coast on the morning of Sunday, July 20. The alert was raised to "T10" for nearly seven hours. During the violent weather, more than 200 people were forced to seek shelter in government-run temporary shelters. Authorities also suspended daycare and school activities on Sunday.
Following the typhoon, the city saw many trees uprooted and several scaffoldings collapsed. The Hong Kong Hospital Authority said in a statement that 21 people had received medical treatment.
