Should we continue our focus on renewable energy or should we reduce its importance in favor of reactivating the nuclear sector? In the wake of the massive blackout on Monday, April 28 , which plunged Spain, Portugal, and part of France into darkness for an entire day, the debate is becoming more heated. Even before knowing the precise cause behind the sudden "loss" of 15 gigawatts of electricity—60% of what was at stake—which itself led to the complete collapse of the system, supporters and detractors of renewable energy are arguing over the merits of the importance they have assumed in the Spanish national energy mix.
