Jura. 3,000 km of roads to mow and two imperatives to reconcile

In total, three mowing operations are planned during the year, mobilizing 25 agents.
At the end of April, departmental services began mowing verges in lowland areas, before undertaking similar work a little later in mountainous areas. This colossal task requires 25 personnel to maintain a total of 3,000 km of roadsides.
In total, three mowing operations are planned during the year, with the objective for the community for several years of reconciling traffic safety and the preservation of the biodiversity that populates our roadsides.
"The primary objective of this operation is to ensure the safety of users on our departmental roads. This is why I have asked that particular attention be paid to intersections and the inside of bends, since the height of the grass affects visibility," explains Gérôme Fassenet, president of the Departmental Council, in a press release issued this Tuesday, which also specifies that the community's teams are relying on specific technical specifications and indications to calibrate a cut adapted to the two identified issues.
In 2024, these mowing operations represented a cumulative time of 28,250 hours of work.
