LIVE. Fires: 973 firefighters battle flames in Martigues, Brocéliande forest fire contained

Twenty firefighters left Isère with six vehicles "early this morning" and headed for Martigues to support their colleagues in Bouches-du-Rhône, the Sdis 38 said in a tweet.
The latter will join the "South-East 'Charlie' column" alongside firefighters from the Loire and Haute-Savoie.
On BFM Marseille Provence, Stéphane Guyot, spokesperson for the Bouches-du-Rhône fire department, reported that "138 aerial drops" were carried out yesterday against the fires in Martigues.
This morning, two Canadairs and water-bombing helicopters began their work. The firefighters will also soon be able to count on the support of a Dash aircraft.
Due to the difficulty of access for emergency services in the Var, the A8 remains partially blocked on two lanes.
Only one lane is available for cars until 5 p.m. today in the area.
With one of the busiest weekends of holiday departures, traffic is going to be very complicated near Fréjus from 8 a.m. this morning.
A total of 29 hectares burned yesterday in Fréjus during wildfires. The fires were contained around 9:30 p.m. yesterday evening.
260 firefighters were mobilized last night, and there are approximately 200 today. Their goal: to carry out flooding operations to prevent any rekindling of the fire, paying particular attention to the edges.
Colonel Francis Colmas, spokesperson for the French Fire Brigade, announced this morning on BFMTV that "enormous" resources have been deployed to deal with the Martigues fire.
"The area is very unique, having already been affected by fires in previous years. One of the firefighters' objectives was to protect the La Mède biofuel refinery; it's a very industrial area," he explains.
This morning, the 973 firefighters deployed will "maintain pressure on the fire to bring it under control."
While "120 homes were threatened" by the Martigues fire, 104 people have been taken into aid centers since yesterday evening between Sausset-les-Pins and Martigues.
"At this stage, it is not possible to identify any possible damage or impacts on the houses. Assessments are underway by the fire brigade," the prefecture noted.
Firefighters are taking advantage of milder weather this morning to fight the Martigues fire.
"The situation is clearly improving, particularly due to the humidity level rising to 40% and the change in wind speed," the prefecture said in a press release.
The number of firefighters involved in the fight against the Martigues fire is increasing, with 973 firefighters now involved in the fight against the Martigues fire, supported by 320 vehicles, the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture announced in a press release at 6:30 a.m.
The fire "is not yet under control due to active fires on the edge."
Containment measures remain in effect in the Saint Julien/Les Ventrons areas.

While firefighters described the situation yesterday as "a major forest fire," by the evening they were facing a "rather positive situation," according to the department's deputy prefect.
The weather situation is, however, "still delicate" near Martigues, with winds continuing to blow in gusts that can reach "70 km/h", the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture warned this morning.
The department is placed on "high" orange alert today due to the risk of forest fires by Météo-France. This is better than yesterday when the 13th was on maximum alert.
More than 200 hectares have been burned near Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône) since the fire started yesterday, the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture announced in a press release.
"Two firefighters suffered minor injuries. No other people have been treated by emergency services at this time," the authorities noted.
At daybreak, aerial reinforcements for the firefighters will resume their interventions.
