Several major fires have hit the south of France in recent days, particularly in Marseille, where hundreds of hectares of vegetation have burned in the immediate vicinity of the Phocaean city.

Near Narbonne, in the Aude department, more than a thousand firefighters from across France continued to battle a fire that has swept through 2,000 hectares of forest since Monday. On Tuesday, another fire broke out in the Hérault department, around the towns of Castelnau-de-Guers and Montagnac.
