The City of Forbach is stepping up its fight against fly-tipping. It has invested in a system of mobile cameras equipped with artificial intelligence capable of recognizing illegal dumping. The first of its kind was installed at a strategic location last December. 150 tickets were issued in five months. The number of fly-tipping incidents has been halved. The municipality will invest in a second camera.

Attached to a lamppost several meters high, the device is rather discreet. At the corner of Schœneck and Jean-Jaurès streets, the first mobile camera in the City of Forbach is pointed directly at the line of five voluntary contribution terminals (glass, clothing, recyclables). Until now, the area was mainly known for being a popular site for fly-tipping.
