Sarreguemines. EcoFest Saturday, September 13: Three good reasons to participate

The EcoFest, which will take place this Saturday, September 13, is a new concept supported by the Collective for a European Civic Service as part of the #IMREG #Youth4EU project with the support of the city. "I'm from Saint-Jean-Rohrbach, and when I was little, once a year, a clean-up day was organized," explains Jérémie Piquet, the leader. "It allowed us to understand the importance of being careful with our waste." To raise awareness among as many people as possible—"especially adults who didn't get this information at school, but young people are welcome"—the organizers are posting shocking messages on social media: "Plastic waste kills a million birds every year"; "A plastic bag takes 400 years to disappear"; "A cigarette butt takes 12 years to disappear and pollutes 500 liters of water."
The cleanup will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the station. "The City will provide us with five new tongs, we'll have gloves, yellow vests, and large bags," explains Jérémie Piquet. The targets? "We've done some reconnaissance with the cleaning service. We'll go where agents rarely go, like paths or the towpath. We'll also go through the city center." Volunteers will be informed of the proper conduct and objects to avoid (syringes). So far, a dozen people have signed up. But around thirty are expected. "It's open until Thursday evening!" warns Jérémie Piquet. The form can be completed online (link on the Lust in Sarreguemines Facebook page).

If the day is laborious, the evening will be festive, weather permitting. "The goal is for people to meet. For this moment to create bonds!" So, there's nothing better than meeting up at 8 p.m. at Place du Marché, to enjoy the good humor and the artists! Lilou will be hosting the venue from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by DJ Dave from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and then a club aperitif evening from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The bars and restaurants in the city center will be open all evening for the occasion.
