Storms: at least one person dead and one missing in Var
A storm hit the Var department this Tuesday morning, leaving at least one person dead in Le Lavandou. Another person is missing.

The storm, accompanied by intense rain, hit the Gard region on Tuesday morning, particularly in the areas of Lavandou, Vidauban, Le Luc, La Garde-Freinet, Grimaud, Collobrières, La Môle, Cavalaire and Bormes-les-Mimosas. On Monday, it caused extensive damage in the Southwest .

Reconnaissance missions are currently being conducted in the Var region. A deceased person was discovered in Le Lavandou, according to a press release from the Var prefecture. Another person is currently missing. The death toll is provisional.

200 firefighters are mobilized, and around fifty interventions have already been carried out since the start of the storm. Reinforcements are also expected from the Bouches-du-Rhône, Alpes-Maritimes, and the Civil Security Instruction and Intervention Unit 7 in Brignoles, according to the Var prefect.

Additionally, at least four roads are currently closed due to flooding or trees on the roadway.

The orange warnings for thunderstorms and rain and flooding have been extended until 2 p.m. for the time being. Residents are asked to stay put, stay away from waterways, and not to park on bridges or go into basements.
