The Night of the Bears: an immersive festival in the forests of Vallorcine in Haute-Savoie

From August 5 to 12, 2025, the fifth edition of the Night of the Bears festival will be held in Vallorcine in Haute-Savoie.
For this fifth edition, the Night of the Bears festival continues its usual themes: nature and the arts. The program includes artistic tours, music, theater, as well as debates and workshops, all set in the heart of the breathtaking landscape of the Chamonix Valley.
Among the seven evenings offered by the festival, there is one that you absolutely must not miss. August 8th will be THE Night of the Bears. That evening, a guided tour will present five dreamlike shows.
For this event, violinist Valérie Barnard and double bassist Ina-Kalina Goudeva will perform melodies based on the five elements, and actress Melanie Baxter Jones will read from the writings of Victor Hugo during her only visit to Chamonix. Spectators will also be able to attend the ecological show The Man Who Planted Trees at the Théâtre des Turbulences. Two new shows will be offered to visitors: the performance Comme la Rivière – Comme la Pierre by Julie Pichavant and the play Trois dont un , written and directed by Laurie Calhiol. Finally, to close the evening, the 24 choristers of Las mariposa s , will deliver a performance varied musical.

But The Night of the Bears isn't just on August 8th. Throughout the week, a wide variety of workshops, shows, and tours will be organized. For this edition, two themes stand out. Water, with the activities Walk on the local water , Literary meeting along the water , and Water song . And then, memory, with the evening in tribute to Lily and Ruben Halbreich, the performance on the morning of August 9th (1945, Nagasaki) .
On August 12th, to conclude this festival, you can enjoy the event Night in Broad Day. This one was designed as a variation of The Night of the Bears, but this time in broad daylight.
