The Lyon Metropolitan Area launched the preliminary design of the Ana Maria Primavesi Park, in the heart of the Marché-Monmousseau-Balmes district in Vénissieux, on Thursday, June 5. By 2035, the park will be the centerpiece of the Minguettes Plateau transformation project.

The Minguettes plateau in Vénissieux continues its transformation. This Thursday, June 5, the Lyon Metropolitan Area unveiled the preliminary design of the Ana Maria Primavesi Park, a vast 1.5-hectare green space located in the heart of the Marché-Monmousseau-Balmes district. The total cost of this preliminary design is €255,000.

As part of the New National Urban Renewal Program (NPNRU) 2015-2030 for the Vénissieux Minguettes - Saint-Fons Clochettes neighborhoods, and recognized as being of national interest by the ANRU in 2014, this vast renovation project is one of the largest undertaken by the Lyon Metropolis. The latter, with a budget of 538 million euros (including 131 million euros committed by the Lyon Metropolis), should, by 2035, connect the Minguettes plateau to the city center by creating an attractive neighborhood of approximately 22 hectares. The Ana Maria Primavesi Park already prefigures the "landscaped loop" imagined as part of the Ring of Parks operation, from the Louis Dupic Park on one side, to the Minguettes Park, to the Victor Basch Park in Saint-Fons, in connection with the Grandes Terres natural area, the community specifies in its press release.

At the same time, the Ana Maria Primavesi Park will support the City of Vénissieux's "fertile plateau" project. By the end of the year, a soil refertilization area will be created between the park and Avenue d'Oschatz in order to "recover the land excavated from neighboring construction sites and reuse it locally in green space projects," the Lyon Metropolis also specifies. A choice echoing the woman whose name the park now bears. Ana Maria Primavesi is indeed a founding figure of agroecology in Brazil.

To design the park, the communities wanted to work in collaboration with the residents of the neighborhoods, particularly through consultation workshops.

As part of its ongoing renovation, the Minguettes plateau will soon see the disappearance of 500 housing units, primarily social housing, to allow for the creation of 1,000 new, diverse housing units. Municipal public facilities will also be built, including a daycare center, a gymnasium, and a covered market hall. The market square will also be renovated.
