Several departments, including the entire Île-de-France region, are on orange alert due to heavy rain and sometimes intense thunderstorms.
Météo-France placed 14 departments on orange alert for rain and flooding on Wednesday, warning of "sometimes intense thunderstorms in the Île-de-France region and neighboring regions, with a risk of heavy rain and significant gusts."
The affected departments are Île-de-France, Eure-et-Loir, Loiret, Aube, Marne, Aisne, and Yonne. "During the episode, accumulations of 40 to 60 mm will often be reached. Locally, 80 mm are possible," warns the meteorological institute.

The affected departments are on orange alert until 4 p.m. Thursday. Météo-France is reporting a "rainstorm episode causing significant accumulations in places and therefore requiring special vigilance."
