Molinari (Ecogest): Green is a key infrastructure to tackle climate change

These days, yet another heat wave is hitting large areas of Europe, putting infrastructures, cities and mobility systems to the test. Climate change is a concrete and ongoing challenge, which requires structured adaptation strategies and measures capable of acting in the long term.
In this context, Italy proposes an innovative vision: transforming greenery into active infrastructure. This is the message brought by Ecogest, an Italian company active in the environmental management of road networks, to the international symposium Navigating the Future of Traffic Management , underway in Athens.
The protagonist of the session dedicated to climate change was Valerio Molinari , reference shareholder of Ecogest and founder of the Study Center for Climate Change (CCSC): “Talking today about climate adaptation without including the role of greenery is like designing roads without considering the asphalt. Our task is to show that there are real, scalable and already operational solutions”.
Ecogest illustrated to the international audience some Italian best practices : from the vegetal barriers created in the Brescia area to the green mitigation areas on the A6, up to the renaturalization projects in natural parks. An integrated approach that combines environmental design, technical maintenance and innovation.
"It is no longer the time for lists of problems, but for operational responses. Green costs less, works better and protects people and infrastructure. All that is needed is the political will to really put it at the center", Molinari emphasized.
The symposium session reaffirmed, also at international level, the crucial role of the environmental sector in planning and protecting future infrastructures.
"For us it is essential that our model be recognized as a reference at an international level. We will continue to develop it with the CCSC and share it with those in the world who have the courage to truly change", concluded Molinari.
