Triodos Bank's chief economist, Hans Stegeman, is Sustainable Planet's environmental figure of the week.

Madrid, Oct 16 (EFEverde).- Triodos Bank 's chief economist, Hans Stegeman, is the environmental figure of the week in Planeta Sostenible, EFEverde's environmental newsletter. Writing for EFEverde's #CreadoresDeOpiniónVerde, Hans Stegeman argues that the financial sector's voluntary commitments "have failed" and that only laws can guarantee real climate action.
"As long as governments fail to implement binding legislative measures requiring banks to align their portfolios with a low-carbon future, the financial sector will continue to drag its feet," Stegeman says.
