Start/stop procedure for bird migration mandatory in the future

In autumn, millions of birds migrate across the North Sea on their way south for the winter. A model predicts when they will make this mass migration, triggering the start/stop procedure. Owners of wind farms in the Dutch North Sea will then be asked to shut down their turbines. This may soon become mandatory.
