Enea Operator will receive funding for the development of car charging stations

Enea Operator will receive funding for the development of car charging stations

The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) has signed agreements with Enea Operator to co-finance two investments in power infrastructure for the development of electric vehicle charging stations.

The total value of the investment exceeds PLN 205 million, of which PLN 123 million will come from the special-purpose Modernization Fund.

- Under the signed agreements, Enea Operator will implement two comprehensive projects increasing the connection capacity of the power grid, in particular in terms of the growing demand for vehicle charging points and renewable sources - we read in a press release published by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

The first project is valued at PLN 85.5 million, including PLN 51.3 million in funding, and will be implemented in Poznań. The second project is valued at nearly PLN 120 million, of which PLN 71.8 million comes from the fund.

As part of the project, a new power station will be built at the Szczecin CHP plant, the station in Bydgoszcz will be expanded, and the station in Żnin will be modernized.

The implementation of the project will enable the connection of new customers in cities and along expressways.

The budget for the entire program, which included four calls for proposals, totaled PLN 1 billion. To date, ten grant agreements have been concluded, totaling approximately PLN 568 million.

The Modernization Fund is a financial instrument that is funded by the sale of 4.5% of the total pool of CO2 emission allowances under the EU ETS.

The European Investment Bank sells these allowances in six-month tranches. Pursuant to the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Act, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) serves as the national operator of the Modernization Fund in Poland.
