ANTT launches supervision panel and expands monitoring

ANTT launches supervision panel and expands monitoring

System allows real-time access to images and data from the Vitória-Minas and Carajás railways

The National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) inaugurated on Wednesday (18), in Brasília (DF), a panel for supervising railway information and concluded the integration of video monitoring of automatic level crossings operated by Vale concessionaires with the National Operational Supervision Center (CNSO). The measure expands the agency's access to strategic railway data and integrates inspection actions in real time.

ANTT believes that the initiative is in line with the proposal to modernize the sector and anticipates guidelines set forth in Standard No. 2 of the Railway Concessions Regulation, which is still being drafted. The standard should establish parameters for the standardization and monitoring of operations and is expected to be completed in early 2026.

The project is led by the Infrastructure and Services Inspection Department (GECOF) of the Railway Transportation Superintendence (Sufer), and involved connecting the CNSO to the monitoring system for level crossings on the Vitória-Minas (EFVM) and Carajás (EFC) railways. Developed by concessionaire Vale as part of the counterparties agreed upon in the early renewal of concession contracts, the system uses sensors to detect approaching trains and automatically activate the gates. It also allows remote control of external interference through the company's Operational Control Center (CCO).

With the integration, ANTT will now be able to monitor, in real time, images and operational data from both railways, which strengthens Sufer's role in monitoring operations and monitoring issues related to road safety. The dashboard launched at CNSO is part of a pilot solution and could guide new projects aimed at digital monitoring of the sector.

“This is a concrete achievement that combines technological innovation with the evolution of sector regulation. It is an example of how we are preparing Brazil for the transportation of the future, with greater efficiency, safety and transparency,” said Mariana Sanchez, chief of staff of the Superintendence of Railway Transportation.

The National Operational Supervision Center was created to provide a physical and technological structure focused on generating knowledge, research and developing solutions in the field of supervision and inspection of land transport. According to ANTT, the objective is to consolidate a more agile, digital and data-driven regulatory model.
