Brazilian ports break new movement record in April

With 107.6 million tons, port movement grows 1.12% and achieves the best April in the historical series
The movement in Brazilian ports was a record, both in April and in the year to date. This marks two consecutive months of better results in the historical series, according to data from the Waterway Statistics Department of the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq).
Comparing port movement recorded in April 2025 with April 2024, growth was 1.12%. In total, there were 107.6 million tons of cargo.
In the year to date, from January to April, the movement reached 412 million tons. According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports, this was the best April in the historical series. “And for the second consecutive month, we are breaking the record for cargo movement,” highlighted Minister Silvio Costa Filho, in a note released by the ministry.
Statistical data
According to statistical data, long-haul shipping, which includes exports and imports, registered a growth of 1.71% in April, compared to the same month of the previous year. There were 76.6 million tons of cargo.
In cabotage, which is navigation between ports in the country, movement reached 23.3 million tons.
Internal navigation, which includes the navigable waterways of the interior of Brazil (rivers, lagoons, lakes, canals, inlets) moved 7.6 million tons.
Public and private ports
In private port facilities (authorized terminals), growth in April was 4%, compared to April 2024 – a result that corresponds to 69.8 million tons.
In public ports, the movement recorded in the same month was 37.8 million tons.
Based on the type of product, solid bulk cargo increased by 2.27%, moving 65.1 million tons. The growth in the movement of liquid bulk cargo was 1.94% (25.7 million tons of cargo). (Agência Brasil)
