Çalık Holding's Solar Power Plant project in Urla to be discussed on June 27

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process initiated by Demircili Wind Energy Electricity Generation Inc., a subsidiary of Çalık Holding , for the installation of a solar power plant in the “forest area” and “natural protected area” region in the Urla district of İzmir will be discussed at the Inspection and Evaluation Board meeting of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on June 27.
Demircili Wind Energy Electricity Generation Inc., a subsidiary of Çalık Holding, had initiated the EIA process by applying to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in November 2024 for the Solar Power Plant (SPP) project, which it wanted to put into operation in addition to the Wind Power Plant (RES) operating in Urla, a summer resort in İzmir.
The examination and evaluation process for the solar power plant project planned to be implemented in an area of 33,861 square meters in Kuşçular Neighborhood, Urla district, has begun. The project will be discussed and decided on at the Ministry's Examination and Evaluation Board meeting on June 27.
The project, which is planned to cost a total of 16 million 251 thousand 950 liras, envisages the placement of 4 thousand 550 panels in the area.
According to the information in the project file, the solar power plant planned to be established on island 271, parcel 1 and island 272, parcel 1 is located in both the "natural protected area" and "forest area" regions.
In the EIA application file, it was stated that “According to the Approved 1/100,000 Scale Environmental Plan of the İzmir-Manisa Planning Region; the project area remains in the 'Natural Protected Area' of the entire auxiliary source GES area, in the area determined as 271 Island 1 Parcel 'Forest Area', 272 Island 1 Parcel 'Forest Area' and 'Area to be Afforested'.”
