Dicle Electricity detected 43 illegal transformers during its inspections in Şanlıurfa.

Dicle Electric reported that 43 illegal transformers were detected in one day during artificial intelligence and drone-assisted inspections for lost or leaked electricity in Şanlıurfa.
In a statement, the company stated that Dicle Elektrik, which conducts inspections with advanced technology to prevent technical malfunctions and economic losses that may occur due to illegal use, detected 43 illegal transformers in one day in Şanlıurfa through artificial intelligence and drone-supported inspections.
It was determined that the transformers, with a total power output of 8,300 kilovolt amperes (kVA), were used for unlicensed electricity consumption equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 10,000 residences. It was reported that Dicle Elektrik documented the illegal use and filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office seeking the seizure of these transformers.
It was also reported that two utility transformers in the Sıngören neighborhood of the Akçakale district, which supply electricity to residents, were attacked with weapons. The two transformers, each with a power output of 100 kilovolts, were reportedly rendered inoperable by as yet unidentified assailants.
The statement noted that teams arriving at the scene after the transformers went offline began working to provide temporary power. Investigations conducted on the site indicated that suspicions arose that the attack stemmed from land disputes within the village, and that judicial authorities were informed about the matter.
Dicle Electricity General Manager Yaşar Arvas, whose views were included in the statement, emphasized their commitment to combating theft, saying, “Theft harms not only our company but also society as a whole. Thanks to artificial intelligence and drone-assisted inspections, we can quickly intervene in these situations. Furthermore, attacks on transformers installed to serve the public are unacceptable. This is an intrusion not only on public property but also on our citizens' right to consume energy. We have initiated the necessary legal action and will continue our fight in both areas.”
