The struggle is in its 108th week: The reaction to the illegal power plant continues

Citizens living in Uskumruköy in Sarıyer , Istanbul , continued their resistance against IC İÇTAŞ 's illegal concrete plant in their 108th week.
In a statement made by the Kilyos Uskumruköy Platform, it was stated, “The current government continues to insist on destroying human life and national lands through legal regulations and the institutions it has seized. By issuing decisions that say EIA is not necessary in Istanbul, Thrace, and all of Anatolia, it is handing over our natural assets to domestic-biased companies and international wild capitalism.”
The statement emphasized that the issue would not be limited to the construction of concrete plants and tunnels, and that tunnels and other concreting projects would bring destruction, not life, to the Northern Forests , the lungs of Istanbul. The following was noted:
“All individuals and institutions that are party to unjust and unlawful attacks on national territory, that use their permission and approval authority on behalf of invading companies, and that simply stand by and ignore the actions despite having the authority to prevent them, are party to these actions and are complicit in these serious crimes against society.”
THEY CALLED AKSUCitizens addressed Sarıyer Mayor Oktay Aksu once again and made the following statement:
It is your primary responsibility to protect Sarıyer's cultural heritage and all its natural riches, and to use the resources of your position to resist any and all attacks on the Northern Forests ecosystem. Furthermore, you are expected to enlighten the people of Sarıyer, and therefore all of Istanbul, by exposing companies or institutions that engage in similar activities and attempt to usurp public lands and earthquake assembly areas for profit.
The statement, which stated that the predatory construction activities in Sarıyer, which previous administrations turned a blind eye to and even profited from, have not slowed down but, on the contrary, have accelerated, said, “Under these circumstances, negative opinions about you and your municipality are gradually increasing, and your obligation to make a statement to the public is strengthened.”
The statement concluded with the following statements:
As the people of Uskumruköy, we respectfully announce to the press and the public that we will protect our forests, our water, and our land. There is no giving up; we will continue our resistance until we bring down this brutal government and establish a democratic geography. This is our humanitarian debt to the future. It is a humanitarian obligation.
