TPAO R&D Center, the harbinger of oil and gas good news

As Türkiye's first publicly funded R&D center, the TPAO R&D Center plays a critical role in achieving energy independence. As exploration and drilling for domestic oil and natural gas production continues, well samples are first analyzed at this center.

We Strengthen Our Energy Independence

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar shared a video about the TPAO R&D Center on his social media account, saying, "As we continue on this path toward a fully independent Turkey in energy, our TPAO R&D Center plays a critical role in oil and natural gas exploration. We conduct the analyses needed by Türkiye and the world in the fields of oil and natural gas geology and technology, using domestic resources at the highest standards. We are deciphering the language of reservoirs and strengthening our energy independence. Domestic engineering, advanced technology, a strong Türkiye!"

All Analyses Can Be Performed

Aksel Tuğba Türkecan, Deputy Department Head of the TPAO R&D Center, provided information about the work at the TPAO R&D Center, stating that they conduct all the analyses and technical studies needed in the fields of petroleum geology and petroleum technology at the TPAO R&D Center using the latest technology. Türkecan said, "Many major oil companies outsource their own analyses as consulting services, but we can perform all the analyses we need at our center."

Rock, Oil, Water and Gas Samples

Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineer Candan Kızılırmak said, "As a center, we strive to understand the language of reservoirs located hundreds, even thousands, of meters underground. We analyze these rock, oil, water, and gas samples from deep underground using world-renowned instruments and accredited methods to characterize the subsurface."

Unique in its field

Geological Engineer Hasan Çağlar Üstün pointed out that some of the analyses performed on samples can only be performed at the TPAO R&D Center, saying, "This makes us the only address in this field."

Expert Training with Simulation

The TPAO R&D Center also trains qualified experts who will enhance drilling safety through its Well Control Training Center. The training center also utilizes a simulator that provides training in realistic conditions. This allows theoretical training to be put into practice.
