Türkiye's domestic and national mainline electric locomotive completed its first run

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the third locomotive of the E5000 series, Türkiye's first domestic and national mainline electric locomotive, completed its first commercial run, saying, "Our E5003 locomotive covered a distance of 125 kilometers between Eskişehir's Hasanbey and Sazılar stations and carried 617 tons of cargo."

In his written statement, Uraloğlu recalled that the E5000 series locomotive, produced by TÜRASAŞ with domestic and national resources, was delivered to the TCDD General Directorate of Transportation last month.

Uraloğlu, noting that the necessary infrastructure and safety tests were successfully completed following delivery, said, "The third locomotive in the domestic and national mainline electric locomotive E5000 series has completed its first commercial run. Our E5003 locomotive covered a distance of 125 kilometers between Hasanbey and Sazılar stations in Eskişehir, carrying 617 tons of freight."

Uraloğlu pointed out that the E5000 series locomotives directly contribute to Türkiye's sustainable transportation goals with their high-performance traction systems and energy efficiency, and emphasized that they have been working tirelessly to establish a domestic railway ecosystem since 2002.

Uraloğlu stated that these locomotives are not just transportation vehicles but also a testament to the national independence Türkiye has achieved in the railway industry. He said, "We are now among the few countries that can produce our own locomotive technology systems. Thanks to our knowledge and engineering prowess, our localization rate is increasing daily."
