ACME Solar signs BESS agreements with NHPC for Andhra Pradesh projects

ACME Solar Holdings, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, has signed Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) with NHPC for two Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The projects, with a total contracted capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh, were secured through an e-reverse auction conducted on 24 June 2025.The two projects include a 50 MW/100 MWh installation at a tariff of ₹2,10,000 per MW per month, and a 225 MW/450 MWh installation at ₹2,22,000 per MW per month.

The projects fall under the Government of India’s Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, which provides ₹27 lakh per MWh or 30 per cent of the total project cost, whichever is lower.

The Letter of Award (LOA) was issued on 8 July 2025. The signing of the BESPA followed shortly after, aided by the prior identification of Andhra Pradesh as the customer. The projects are to be set up at the customer’s site, with land and evacuation infrastructure provided by the state. This arrangement is expected to expedite project execution. The systems are scheduled for commissioning within 18 months of BESPA signing.These projects are based on a “BESS as a service” model, where capacity charges are payable under a structured framework. The installations will enable storage of electricity during off-peak hours and supply during periods of peak demand. They are intended to support grid stability and improve the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, which are variable in output.The deployment of Standalone BESS is part of ACME Solar’s broader strategy to scale battery procurement and installation across its portfolio.
