Andaman & Nicobar set to invite bids for 21 MW solar projects with battery storage
In a push to green the islands, the UT administration is preparing to float a SECI-backed tender for 21 MW of grid-connected solar power with battery storage, pending final technical and regulatory approvals.
New Delhi: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands may soon invite bids to develop 21 MW of grid-connected solar power plants with battery storage capacity, people aware of the development said.The move is a part of the greening of the islands. The tender is likely to be floated by the Union Territory administration and the approval of the lowest discovered rate could be obtained from the joint electricity regulatory commission.The UT has asked the Central Electricity Authority to examine and convey the technical approval prior to obtaining approval of the competent authority before floating the tender, one of the persons said.The draft tender document and power purchase agreement were prepared and overseen by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), according to the person.

SECI, National Institute of Wind Energy in coordination with local authorities carried out a joint feasibility study.
