BP and EnBW win approval for criticized offshore wind project

BP and EnBW win approval for criticized offshore wind project

On Friday, British BP and German EnBW obtained approval for one of two twin projects in the UK, reports Recharge News.

The two partners are jointly developing the two offshore wind projects, Mona and Morgan, and on Friday, British Energy Minister Ed Miliband approved the development of Mona, with planned capacity of 1.5GW from 96 wind turbines.

Morgan is also expected to obtain permission for further development by the end of August.

Ørsted has protested against the development of both Mona and Morgan, as the Danish company anticipates ”catastrophic” losses due to wake from the two wind farms in its own projects with a total capacity of 1.85GW in the Irish Sea.
