ICGB and regional TSOs to launch two new route products to Ukraine

ICGB and regional TSOs to launch two new route products to Ukraine

ICGB, the independent transmission system operator of the Greece–Bulgaria interconnector, has joined regional partners in signing an agreement for the launch of two new route products to Ukraine.

Routes 2 and 3 are dedicated capacity products designed to transport natural gas from the Alexandroupolis LNG terminal and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) through the Greece–Bulgaria interconnector (IGB) and onward via the Trans-Balkan Pipeline, Romania and Moldova, to Ukraine. In a joint letter to regulators, the TSOs propose that the new products be made available from December 2025 to April 2026, aligning their duration with that of Route 1.

The TSOs have submitted the new bundled products for approval to their respective national energy regulatory authorities.

The creation of Routes 2 and 3 complements the successful launch of Route 1 earlier this year and is expected to significantly enhance the resilience of gas supply networks in the region. By offering more competitive capacity products through a single auction platform (RBP), the TSOs aim to improve market efficiency and strengthen regional energy security. ICGB has introduced a significant 46 per cent tariff discount.
