This is part of the 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor Fleet Programme, with L&T delivering all four SGs in 45 months.

Scaling up nuclear capacity
India currently has 8.18 gigawatts of electric (GWe) of installed nuclear power capacity with 24 operational reactors as of January 30, 2025. The government aims to significantly increase this capacity to 22.48 GWe by 2031-32.As part of the broader Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the long-term goal is to achieve at least 100 GWe of nuclear power by 2047, which is projected to meet approximately 10 per cent of the nation's total energy requirements.
