PM Modi to lay foundation for ₹29,948 crore NTPC thermal power plant in Bihar
The ₹29,948 crore project is based on Ultra-Supercritical Technology and aims to boost energy supply in Bihar and other states.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of NTPC’s Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project Stage-II (3x800 MW) in Bihar’s Aurangabad district on May 30. The ₹29,948 crore project is based on Ultra-Supercritical Technology and aims to boost energy supply in Bihar and other states.The power generated will be supplied to Bihar and beneficiary states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab. The project will also employ a Dry Bottom ash handling system and air-cooled condenser, aimed at reducing freshwater consumption for power generation.The facility is designed to meet rising power demand from industries, communities, and businesses in Eastern India and is expected to contribute to national goals of energy security and affordability.NTPC Ltd., with an installed power generation capacity of over 80 GW, currently has 32 GW under construction, including 13 GW of renewable energy. The company has set a target of achieving 60 GW renewable energy capacity by 2032.The Nabinagar Stage-II project aligns with NTPC’s ongoing initiatives in expanding thermal, hydro, solar, and wind capacities across the country.
