Vivavis AG is focused on the digitalization of the utility industry and the implementation of the energy transition. The company therefore serves network companies and metering point operators as well as infrastructure operators of energy-intensive industries and rail-based local and long-distance transport companies. In order to protect valuable data and employees, a fire alarm system from Securiton was implemented.
IT security is not the only priority at Vivavis AG. As part of the continuous improvement of security standards, the company has installed a modern fire alarm system (BMA) in cooperation with Securiton Germany. The aim was to implement a fire alarm system that meets the company's specific requirements, protects employees, servers and valuable data from the dangers of fire and at the same time complies with the applicable safety regulations.
Correct selection of fire detectorsThe fire alarm system was installed in several phases. During the planning phase, all relevant areas of the company were inspected by fire protection experts from Securiton Germany in order to determine the optimal placement and number of detectors based on the escape and rescue plans.
The aim was to determine which type of detector was best suited to the earliest possible detection depending on the environmental conditions. The choice fell on manual fire detectors and multiple sensor detectors, which automatically report smoke and heat developments in the area of the escape and rescue routes of the five connected company buildings to the "Securifire" fire alarm control center.
special fire alarm technology for ITThe inspection/test rooms with network cabinets are monitored with Securiras ASD aspirating smoke detectors. The highly sensitive sensors in the evaluation unit can detect smoke particles in the air being sucked in before this is possible with point detectors. There are two installation options for monitoring the installation of IT systems and control cabinets: The Securiton aspirating smoke system can be attached directly to the outside of the server cabinet using a mounting plate without any mechanical intervention.
This solution is used where only one or two cabinets are to be monitored together with a "Securiras ASD". For larger systems, as in the case of Vivavis AG, it is recommended to install a central suction pipe on the ceiling.

Branches and flexible suction pipes create a connection between the monitored cabinet and the evaluation unit. The advantage of this variant is that several cabinets can be monitored with one suction smoke detector. In addition, the cabinets can be easily moved, new ones added and existing ones removed if necessary. The suction pipe network is then adjusted to suit the new arrangement.
Following the planning phase, the fire alarm system was put into operation by experienced technicians from Securiton Germany. This meant that everything from planning to installation was handled by a single source.
briefing of fire protection officersAfter the installation was completed, a briefing was held for the fire protection officers at Vivavis to impart the necessary knowledge. This ensures that the customer is familiar with the new system and, as the operator, is authorized to switch detectors off or on again during modifications. If there are any further questions during operation, those responsible can contact Securiton Germany's 24/7 support at any time. In addition, the fire alarm system is inspected and maintained four times a year as part of a maintenance contract.
