Aagesen guarantees speed in the expropriation process for the Algarrobico hotel (Almería).

Cádiz, August 6 (EFE). The Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, assured this Tuesday that the government will act as quickly as possible in the expropriation proceedings against the Algarrobico Hotel, in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park (Almería), following the appeal filed by its owners.
When asked by reporters about the three-month deadline for resolving the case opened after the hotel developer submitted its objections before the deadline, the minister specified that her department will act in the maritime-terrestrial public domain, where it has jurisdiction, and expressed confidence that this process will resolve the situation.
After visiting construction work on Camposoto Beach (Cádiz), the minister noted that the construction of the Algarrobico beach, just a few meters from the shore, has been the subject of a long judicial and administrative battle, with multiple rulings confirming its incompatibility with coastal legislation and with the environmental protection of the natural park.
"We've been waiting too long for a definitive solution," he acknowledged, while insisting that his ministry will continue to collaborate with the Andalusian Regional Government and the affected municipalities to complete the necessary steps.
Aagesen has stated that the government's intention is for the expropriation of the portion that affects the public domain to allow, at a later stage, to move toward the partial demolition of the structure before the end of this year, as recently announced by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.
"Our commitment is firm: to restore this stretch of coastline for the public and to protect a unique natural environment," he added.
The process for the Government to expropriate the land of El Algarrobico begins.
