The Ombudsman appeals to the Constitutional Court against the reduction of wolf protection.

Madrid, July 3 (EFE).- The Ombudsman has filed a constitutional appeal against certain articles of the Law on the Prevention of Food Loss and Waste, arguing that they may lead to a "possible deactivation of wolf protection."
Specifically, the institution is challenging the eighth additional provision, the sole transitional provision, and the nineteenth final provision of the law, which were introduced through parliamentary amendments, according to information provided to EFE by the Ombudsman.
These measures, according to the complainants, could violate the Natural Heritage and Biodiversity Law, which includes the wolf as a protected wild species in the List of Wild Species under Special Protection (LESRPE).
The Ombudsman's action is in response to the 278 citizen requests received, urging the institution to appeal to the Constitutional Court.
After analyzing the content of the provisions, the institution has decided to file a constitutional appeal, considering that three of them violate certain articles of the Constitution.
The appeal was filed on July 1st and, as usual, will be published on the Ombudsman's website within fifteen business days of its submission. The applicants have already been formally informed of this action.
