"Temperatures of 37 to 38°C in places": 16 departments still on orange heatwave alert

The heatwave is intensifying. 16 departments are still on orange alert this Friday, June 20th and Saturday, according to Météo France. Two areas are affected in France.
First in the northwest, the alert concerns Manche, Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne, Sarthe, Indre-et-Loire, Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Vendée, Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, Charente-Maritime and Charente. In this area, "maximum temperatures generally reach 33 to 36°C or even 37 to 38°C in places," the meteorological service specifies. The Rhône and Isère have also been placed on orange alert.
"At 3 p.m. this Friday, temperatures are between 32 and 35°C in the departments on orange alert, with local temperatures exceeding 35°C in the west of the Pays-de-La-Loire region. The maximum temperatures have not yet been reached at this time of the afternoon," adds Météo France, specifying that the hottest day is "expected for this Saturday, June 21."
