From the end of May to the end of June, bulldozers have been working on the Vouge River bed over a distance of one kilometer between Bessey-lès-Cîteaux and Izeure. We met with Nicolas Boillin, director of the Vouge Basin Syndicate (SBV), who explained the reasons for this work.

"This river has undergone major rectification work since the 19th century, particularly to increase its hydraulic capacity. The result is a channelized watercourse with an oversized bed that has seen aquatic fauna depleted. Our intervention aims to reduce the channel at low water to restore the natural functioning of the river and, in particular, allow the water to flow further and carry more oxygen.
