Brouage Marshes: the Grand Site Project validated at departmental level

The departmental nature commission unanimously voted to launch the Grand Site project. It now needs to pass the national commission's approval.
As planned, elected officials from Rochefort Océan and the Marennes basin visited the prefecture on July 3. The departmental commission for nature, landscapes and sites was studying the Brouage marsh's application for the Grand Site Project , a necessary step that will take six years before it can apply for the Grand Site label . The application was unanimously approved.
It is therefore a resounding yes from the elected representatives of the Communauté de communes du Bassin de Marennes and others from the Agglo Rochefort Océan, but also from representatives of environmental associations, the Council for Architecture, Urban Planning and the Environment (CAUE), the Chamber of Agriculture, the Regional Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Housing (Dreal) and government services.
This is a first step. The application must now be validated by the National Commission for Nature, Landscapes, and Sites, which reports to the Ministry of the Environment. This won't happen for several months.
