Jura. After an exceptionally cool morning, temperatures are starting to rise again.

After the scorching temperatures of this early summer, the days have become more comfortable in the Jura, even downright cool. In Lons-le-Saunier, the temperature was 9.7°C on Wednesday morning, July 9, and 23°C in the afternoon. "We are slightly below seasonal norms for July, since we were 3°C below the afternoon and more than 5°C in the morning. We are not that far from the record coolness that dates back to July 4, 1984, with 6.6°C," notes Stéphane Nedeljkovitch of Météo News. The same situation is true in La Pesse. At an altitude of over 1,000 meters, it was 3.3 degrees in the morning and 18.4°C in the afternoon. At Combe Noire, the temperature was even -3.1°C.
These temperature differences are nothing exceptional in the middle of summer. "At this time of year, the days are much longer than the rest of the year, and the nights are short, so temperatures have time to rise throughout the day," the meteorologist continues. "A 15-degree difference between morning and afternoon is normal. What's more exceptional is the coolness at the start of the day."
Rest assured, the cool morning temperatures that are prompting us to pull out our jackets and vests should fade over the coming days. This Friday, July 11, the temperature in Dole was 14°C in the morning, and 28°C in the middle of the day. "After a bit of a lull, the heat is returning to seasonal norms. It won't be the heatwave we've been experiencing, but this weekend we'll exceed the 30°C mark."
However, beware of thunderstorms, which will be very isolated overnight from Saturday to Sunday and will move up from the Gulf of Lions and Catalonia. The weather will then become more unstable on Sunday through Monday, before the sun returns on Tuesday.
