Burgundy Franche-Comté. François-Xavier Nicot becomes director of the Regional Forestry Office

End of term for Pierre-Jean Morel, territorial director of the National Forestry Office (ONF) of Burgundy Franche-Comté, who handed over his position to François-Xavier Nicot on Tuesday, July 15.
A trained forester, he began his career at the ONF in 1999 as an engineer responsible for mountain forest management in Grenoble. In 2001, he became responsible for forest management for the Drôme and Ardèche departments. He then continued his career in Haute-Savoie, where he headed the ONF's design office for six years. In 2012, he joined the Rhône-Alpes territorial directorate as forestry director. Two years later, he was appointed deputy territorial director, in charge of forestry issues and the information system for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes territorial directorate.
In 2019, he became head of the Savoie territorial agency. There, he led the merger of the Savoie and Haute-Savoie agencies, giving rise to the Savoie Mont-Blanc territorial agency, of which he became director upon its creation on January 1, 2021.
