Ticks no longer wait for summer to strike. And young children are far more likely to be bitten by ticks than other age groups! These are two new findings that can be credited to "Citique," a participatory research program launched at INRAE ​​Champenoux, and which is more necessary than ever.

Never before have they been the subject of such attention. Collected, closely observed, even scrutinized, frozen, catalogued... and, above all, increasingly feared, ticks. Because of global warming, because of the proliferation... and the rise of the diseases they transmit.

As a reminder, the tick has the major drawback of feeding on our blood. It eats 2 or even 3 blood meals during its lifetime (depending on whether it is male or female). If its previous "victim" (bird or any mammal) was infected with a virus, bacteria, or parasite, the tick then becomes the carrier. And transmits it to the next victim.
